Slow to warm up...

I just moved to a new school and there have been a few good looking girls that have been flirting with me... but im very shy and didnt take advantage of the situations. Now they have stopped hitting on me and they probably think im boring and awkward to talk to. Being shy is so frustrating... once I warm up to people i am very talkative and very hyper (i have ADHD really bad ). Somehow I just need to break the ice and try to be more talkative, or did i blow my chances... Any advice???

Well its a pretty big thing to me that they actualy showed interest. Did you do anything to make it happen or did they just come to you? Because its never happened to me. Atleast you can think about handling it differently and taking advantage if it does happen again, which it could do. I wish I had oppertunities like that, don't know how well i'd handle it, but just being shown the interest by them would be something.

I am somewhat like you Rise Against. I can't just instantly and easily start a conversation with new people. Though after a few times of meeting someone I gradually warm up to them more and more and it becomes easier. I can as well be rather talkative and hyper. But it's not always easy around people I don't know well. I believe I never really give off a great introduction when someone first meets me. I'm usually rather shy and keep to myself. I also need that extra initiative to break the ice and get things going.

It usually takes me about a year for me to start opening to people. That's why i have no friends in Freshmen year in high school. But everything started going well in my sophmore year. But started to fade my junior, and crashed on my senior.

I did absolutely nothing to show any interest. I guess i probably would have played my cards a little differently if i would have been expecting them to approach me, but they always come up to me when im least expecting it and i am always so surprised that i freeze up. If i can initiate the conversation i am usually a lot more talkative.
