Sleep

OK so I have major issues when it comes to sleep, I swear I have hypersomnia, which means I am excessively sleepy and sleep alot. I sleep something like 12 hours sometime a day, my normal time is like 10, and I am always tired, no matter if I get 12 or 6. I am lethargic and never want to do much. I know this is part way depression, but it cant all be that. I also have issues sleeping at what is considered "normal" times. That is I sleep more during the day then night. This is an issue because not only are all the jobs I can find in the town during the day (though the energy drain would make even night jobs hard), I am trying to complete college and there are set times for class, times that are normally during the morning, and this is extremely hard on me.

So what I am asking is does anyone have any of these issues, and how do you deal with them?

I've got an awful sleeping pattern. I usually end up falling to sleep around 4-5.30 in the morning, then wake up at 1 or 2 in the afternoon, so it cuts out the whole day and I end up feeling bone tired for the remainder of the day.

I found it hard at college to, having to force myself out of bed, so concentrating in lessons was always hard. I still don't deal with it well enough, but I've been unemployed and pretty much 'stewing' for over a year now so I'm not sure if any 'routine' would help me.

You should see a doctor about it though, they could give you advise on any lifestyle changes etc you could make.

I had a friend who suffered from severe lethargy, and it turned out to be ME. The doctor said it can be brought on by stress/depression/trauma - a variety of reasons unique to the individual. She said with time it dissipates and then goes, I guess after stress levels etc go down.

I used to be that way. I am still tired all the time, but I can't afford to sleep like I used to anymore due to my circumstances... I found that drinking plenty of water and exercising regularly help to keep my energy level up enough during the day that I can function... but it's still a struggle to make it through without passing out some days. I used to sleep from like 7am til 2pm or so.. Now I sleep from like midnight to 7am which is a little more normal I guess.. but if I had my way I would go back to the other schedule. Anyway... my only advice is to make sure you are getting plenty of water and eat breakfast.. maybe try to take a multi vitamin or something.. just to give you enough energy to make it through the day? Otherwise you might want to go see a doctor like market.garden said... sorry that's probably not very helpful, but it's all I can think of.

Thanks for the advice, from both of you, I would see a doctor, but I have dead broke and have no insurance, so that isn't happening. I wish I could get myself doing midnight to 7am, but even then it would be more midnight to 10am, since I sleep long hours, way to hard to wake myself at times.
