Sick of not knowing the truth

I've been researching ETS for almost 2 1/2 years now. When it comes down to it all i've gained is that this surgery usually causes compensatory sweating, it works best for curing palmar hyperhidrosis and some people have little or no side effects while some have bad ones.

Why have there not been any conclusive studies done on the long term effects? I dont want to wait around trying to cure this condition with electricity every week when theres a surgery that can cure it forever. I don't understand it. My feet are soaking wet during physical activity and it sucks. My palmar hyperhidrosis I would say is not quite severe but moderate. However it consumes my thoughts and I have to get away from thinking about it. I feel like getting tatoos on my palms.

same here, I've read so many success stories, and at the same time there are also tons of unsuccessful ones. But from what I gathered, it should only be your last resort. Not only does it cause compensatory sweating, it can also damage your lungs.

Trust me i'm just as fed up as you are. Have you had any success with ionto? I'm getting ready to try that and if that doesn't work I think I go for the sympathotomy at the Mayo Clinic. They claim it's just as effective as ETS but greatly lowers the risk of compensatory sweating. You should check into it! Here is an article about it... http://sweathelp.org/PDF/Atkinson.pdf

yes i've read that. they disconnet the T2. But if you read a lot of other surgeons websites they recommend staying away from T2 completely because of increased compensatory sweat. So who's to say who's right or wrong? Every surgeon seems to think thier method is better but everyone has diff results.

note that it says : "Long-term durability of the procedure
requires further follow-up." They didnt reach a solid conclusion just advocation of a new method. go to sweat-palms.com and dr. reisfeld stays away from T2 completely and he's done more of these surgeries than anyone.

humm... I'm not sure about the whole T2 thing, every article says something different but unlike most hyperhidrosis doctors the mayo clinic isn't just trying to get your money. I've read a lot about Dr. Reisfeld some good and some with bad compensatory sweating so I think it's just a risk you have to sometimes take! good luck to you

I would stay away from T2 till more research is done. Ionto worked really well for me, I was able maintain about 95% dry.

hopefully Ionto works as well for me as it did for you. Considering many drs who perfrom hyperhidrosis related surgeries strictly work with hh and have no other source of income whereas surgeons at mayo clinic perform other surgeries and are not limited to hyperhidrosis!

true true... how often do you have to do maintainence treatments and where do you use the hydrosal gel? I'm getting ready to rent and ionto machine to see if it will work for me!

I used to do maintainence once or twice(if it is really hot or I have a nerve wrecking meeting coming up) a week. I put hydrosal gel straight on your hands before you go to bed. Make sure your hands are dry when you do so. Some say you can apply it again when you wake up, I am not too sure about that. Good luck.
