Shaved pits make you sweat more?

I think they do me. I shaved mine a little bit it has irritated the crap out of my pits and I think it makes me more aware of my pits and this combined with the irritation makes them sweat more.

Anyone know if its true? hehe

Well, when you shave your pits there is no hair to "absorb" the sweat so to speak and give it time to evaporate.

I have cranial sweating and in a similar way I find it's better when my hair is slightly longer.

Hi,

I developed excessive underarm sweating when I was a teenager and although I don't suffer as badly with it now I do get a very bad rash when I shave and wondered whether this could have something to do with it?

I've used Persperix in the past and that has helped, but I'm wondering whether I should try to control it through diet rather than medicines and lotions - has anyone else tried this?

I've also looked into the other anti-perspirants that are available - I found this site that lists a few: Stop Sweating

But are there any others that people have tried and can recommend?

Thanks for your help.

If you get rashes after shaving it could be the shaving cream you're using? Don't really know but they say shaving gels are better.

You use a normal razor or an electric one? I know when I shave my face with my brother's electric one I can get lil bumps from it and my face feels like it's burning afterwards. I just stick to my old fashioned razor.

Not sure if diet can help you all that much if it's really HH. I've read a bunch of forums where people have tried altering their diets drastically with no results.

But then what works for some doesn't work for others so it couldn't hurt to try as long as you're getting all the proper nutrition.

That was true for me. It was one of the first remedy tricks that I tried. Shaving created irritation and bumps that encouraged more sweating.

And yes, without the hair to absorb the sweat, my axillary hyperhidrosis was more noticeable.

The trick for me though came with exfoliation of the underarms.

i tried cutting down / shaving my pits at one point to see if made difference and made worse...sweated quicker and heavier and smelt quicker ...in end let hair grow back to normal and found that best all round
