Re: What type of people do you feel at ease with?

Hi,

What type of people do you feel at ease with? Are they necessarily shy or social phobia or do they tend to be outgoing?

Hi,

Do you have any type of friends? It think it's quite difficult to make any friends and it' difficult to trust people.

i guess i dont really feel at ease with anyone, but i'd say my mum the most, and she used to be shy when she was my age, but she very outgoing now.
thats the same thing with my mom and dad they were really shy as kids so i feel sorta comfortable around them but as far as telling them " i think i have sa" they just say you'll grow out of it. but they were only shy as young kids not in high school by then they had grown out of it but i still feel just as anxious maybe i got it double i don't know im rambling anyway i only feel comfy around my immediate family not even my aunts and uncles maybe some cousins but everyone else no :(

Hi,

I even tried to convince myself that I didn't have sa. Then, I came online and I could see that I wasn't the only one with this condition. It hasn't got rid of the condition although it's reassuring to know that I wasn't going overboard about feeling shy.

Anyway, the thing is, I feel quite guilty really for not being able to face people.

Hi,

I have to say that I also feel a great affection for animals. They accept people as they are and are so cute.

Hi,

Yes, quite right.

I wonder what causes people to have social phobia? I've often been told that I'm just shy. Then when you see other shy people coping better, you start thinking, you're not trying hard enough or something. Now, I understand there's a different between shyness and social anxiety. I wonder if anyone every overcomes it?

The only people I am comfortable around are close family members and my friends that ive known since public school. They are not super outgoing, but still far more outgoing then I am in social situations.

I have to say that I dont feel comfortable around anyone. I can talk to people and socialise if I have to, but I never feel comfortable doing it.

I feel good around people that know about my problem and are still nice to me and treat me with kindness and respect. There aren't too many people like this in the world, but thank God a few still walk this earth and happen to be part of my family. :)

I'd have to say that the more I know a person the more comfortable I am around them. I can be comfortable around my co-workers all dayat work, but if I was thrown into a social situation with them I wouldn't be comfortable. If it's someone I don't know very well than I usually am more comfortable around the quieter, shy people. However, if its someone more outgoing who talks a lot, and all I have to do is basically follow their line of conversaion then I'm usually ok. I guess it depends on the person and the situation.

i like kids, even though they can be rambunxious i still feel comfy around them because it makes me think back to when i was a kid with no worries and it makes me feel better. i'm always willing to watch my mothers friends son. we'll play video games, i'll take him to get some ice cream, we'll wrestle on the bed i'll give him some ddt stone cold steve austin action and call it day. he admires me too, so i love it.

i feel at ease with most people after I get over initial nerves. I noticed the other night when i went out that after i got over the initial anxiety i was pretty lively and talkative...but i usually think of myself as quiet. It just proves that anxiety is containing my out going personality and the real me seldom comes out to play :(

I feel most at ease with fellow crazy people who I can have conversations about nothing at all with.

Hi,

I used to be able to feel at ease with my family. However, from about age 17, I began to feel uneasy. There's no doubt they're the ones I feel the most at ease with and of course, animals. I find it so difficult to motivate myself to go out of the house and when the weather's really nice and there are lots of people outside, I'll stay inside to avoid them. That is definitely a worry. All the same, I love summer.
