"You will never get better until you stop feeling sorry for yourself." -Joyce Meyer

Not something people want to hear, but it's true. I'm definitely guilty of wallowing in self-pity. It only makes you feel ten times worse than you did to begin with...and who needs that??
Next time you feel yourself start to drift into self-pity mode, try doing something to distract yourself from those thoughts. Maybe something that makes you happy...like playing with a puppy or watching a funny movie. It's definitely something that I myself need to work a lot on. So starting today, I will no longer sit around and feel sorry for myself.
Just throwing that out there. :)

Hi Kuhtreen. How can anyone feel bad when they are playing with a puppy, right?! :D Puppies are the best!!
I'm not too familiar with Joyce Meyer other than seeing her here and there on T.V. but I like her quote. I feel the same way a lot of the time. It's easy to sit around and say "I can't" and feel really bad about yourself and life. But it takes work to change things and create the life you want. I know first hand how hard this can be. But, each day I get a teensy bit better at being proactive. And it's good.

Gr8... you should even act like a puppy when you meet someone... make em feel the way a dog makes his master feel when he arrives home... Also, try to be in the positive mode everytime... it can really have an effect... just keep trying to open up to people... eventually you WILL get better...

Nice quote! :) I just got Joyce Meyer's book - Battlefield of the Mind for teens, haven't read it yet but I'm hoping it might help me a lot with negative thoughts and SA. Here's a few quotes I like...

"You can't stop your thoughts but you don't have to listen to them, either"
- Joe Vitale

"Whatever you say after "I am" defines who you become."
- Joe Vitale

A good mantra to repeat to yourself daily: "I am more than I appear to be, God's strength and power rests inside me"
- Robin Sharma

"Live every day as if it were your last"
- Anonymous

The Golden rule: "Treat others the way you want to be treated"
- Anonymous

"You Reap What You Sow" (abridged)
- The Bible, GALATIANS 6: 7-9 (KJV)

I have read a lot of self-help books! Of course putting these ideas into practice is another idea entirely.
