Public awareness of SP

My point about how mental illness has been associated with child molesters, lunatics and criminal insane is to show that all mental illnesses get clumped together. As a result, people have a stereotypical view of you if you 'come out' and say 'I have a mental illness'.

In other words, people think you are some kind of loser or freak if you suffer from panic attacks or anxiety. Public awareness is required so that we are NOT STIGMATISED. We are people who are not getting the help we require from the medical profession or other institutions. For example, you can be prescribed medication by your doctor but it does not get to the root of the problem. Most Doctors prescribe medication because it's just easy for them to right a note and then think they have done a good job. Other Doctors just think you are being over-dramatic and should snap out of it.

The question is, how come there is such a high rate of depression and anxiety in modern society when we are supposed to be the wealthiest, free, healthy, and happiest nation on the planet? I doubt that any psychologist or Doctor has ever studied this phenomenon and come up with an answer that is useful.
