I hear Prozac is a potent 5-HT2C antagonist. This seems to be unique amongst the SSRI's. The 5-HT2C receptor plays a big role in mediating anxiety.
Antagonism at this site seems to decrease feelings of social anxiety.
Whats everybody's take on it? I have tried every others SSRI but Luvox with no success. Should I get my hopes up?
Fluoxetine ( Prozac ) is a competitive and reversible antagonist of 5HT2C receptors
SSRIs compared : fluoxetine ( Prozac ) norepinephrine, dopamine and the 5-HT2C receptors
These studies seem to indicate to me that Prozac is the superior SSRI in theory.
