If i were you, id do one of these:

1)Dont go, fail the presentation... (not a good advice i know, but thats what i usually do)

2)Go talk to the teacher about your situation, hopefully hell understand (they usually do)

3)Go see a psychiatrist, and ask her to prescribe you Xanax, take 1 (or 2 maybe) , about an hour before the presentaion and ...pufff... you are a zombie for the next 3 hours (next to no anxiety)

Hey, if you really can't face it, don't go. Weigh up the grief if you do it versus the trouble you'll get into if you don't. Which is worse? Base your decision off that.

hi,

i ve got the same problem...i still have some time towards my presentation and its been a while since i got to know...so i ve been through many different moods...starting with panic attack after which i couldnt come back to normal for few days... severe migranes...and i m in a constant stress which makes me powerless, i have no motivation for anything...feel like my life will starts after presentation day...then i got angry with myself for feeling so hopless, for inability to cope with such a simple thing like presentation. Now i feel so fed up and tired probably because of everyday stress. i feel so fed up that i dont care any more about that presentation. but fear is still inside me...and its still the same. I m thinking to get some tablets ..as somebody mentioned above. for now i dont have any better idea..i m not even able to think.
good luck

I know how you feel, I really hate presentations. I had to do a half hour presi/workshop on my own infront of my uni seminar group last monday and that was hell. Cos I find it hard to socialize with people, it seemed like I was conducting it infront of a group of strangers and that didnt make it any better.

I have the same problem, this is my first year in highschool and we have to do many presentations aswell. My adive to u is to just go up there , breath deep and smile. If you look relaxed u wont draw unwanted attention to urself. But if u look stressed out and paniked, thats when people start to stare and pay more attention to you. Good luck, i no u can do it. I dont see much sense in failing the projcet over a silly presentation :)

hi ty very much for all the replies.... i have almost no choice..i must do it..why?

> cuz i am doing the presentation with a friend and i just can't let him alone
> i know the teacher will ask me to do the presentation another day if i miss it
> is it good to escape my problem?? i think no ...

but i need to know if there's any temporary medication so that i am more relaxed for the presentation... the problem for me is that i have the phobia of turning red...and this makes me turn red more(didn't had this phobia before...)..now i turn red for almost anything...

hi
i reckon go see a doctor, tell them about your SA, hopefully he'll be able to give you something that will help
go see a psychiatrist/psycologist (whats the difference?) aswell

a doctor was the first person i told about my SA, (i sat there talking to him and i was going red and sweating, thinking the whole time i was looking stupid and humiliating myself) but over the proceeding few months he had me try first a beta blocker? which is called Atenolol, it stops the adrenil glands from producing adrenalin or something to that effect, it works great for keeping your heartrate slow because when you get paniky it is a fear reaction and adrenalin will be pumping through your veins reading your body to "fight or flight" this doesn't stop the sweating though, but atleast you'll feel alot calmer and maybe even not sweat so much because you will feel calmer and hopefully you won't feel paniky at all, but these seem pretty safe and the effects only last maybe an hour or two- apparantly musicains use them before going on stage to keep there heart rate normal and to stop shaky hands and stuff like that.

The second thing the doctor put me on was an antidepresannt, called aropax, but this takes many weeks to kick in and maybe it made me more chatty but i didn't really like it that much because at time i felt lightheaded + there are other side effects. So for your presentation this one isn't an option.

But definitely talk to your doctor, and then get onto a psycologist for further more comprehensive help. I recomend a Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, its definitely working for me, i used to be pretty much just like u , i haven't had a panic attack in quite a few months and i get red and sweaty way less.

good luck

thnaks very much..that will probably help!!! i have started to see a psycologue for about 4-5 weeks now...but it's not helping at all..... she keeps asking same almost same questions each week!!! and it costs very much!!! we just talk...she didn't tell me any treatment!!! just talk and telling me i must think more positvely etc... nothing very helpful..... :( dunno it's not helping me :(....

do doctors treat phobia stuff?? i thought it was only psycologists...so i directly went to see a psycologist... i am spending a lot of money with this...i will soon run out of money cuz i dun work.... :(

and i will try to see if i can get Atenolol..it sounds that this can help me...as i need something that can calm me down so that i dun have to worry about my heartbeat...blushes and sweat things!!! ty again very much...

p.s. i can write a lot lolz...if only i cud talk like i write :S lolz

Beta-blokers can only block the physical effects of your anxiety, like sweating, blushing, but it wont help you calm down, it wont help you mentally, it is normally given to people with hypertension, so it just lowers your heartbeat rate and blood pressure.

But Alprazolam (which is found in Xanax), can help you calm both mentally and physically, and trust me it helps.

Thats what my doctor said when i asked her to prescribe me a betablocker... So she advised me Xanax and it worked fine. Though its highly addictive...
