Update: I just received a request to fill out a background check, which is a good indication I will be offered the job soon. The only issue is that I also applied for a higher position, and got an invitation for an interview next week in the same organization (I currently work there part time). My concern is the timing. If I have to make a decision about the first position before interviewing/hearing about the potential promotion. I don't want to turn it down, in hopes of getting the promotion, in case I don't get that, but I also don't want to accept it too hastily, in case I do have a good shot at it. I know this is a weird/good dilemma to have, but it is causing me some stress. Fortunately, I know (though not well) the hiring managers for both positions, so I could talk to them, but I don't know how to approach this.
