Paxil

Hi everyone,
I'm having surgery in a month, and need to get a blood test prior to it. My mom, who is the biggest control freak and a doctor, will be seeing my results. I stopped Paxil in March, will it...show up on my blood test? I feel like this is a really dumb question, but I'm sort of clueless when it comes to this stuff. ::eek::

They will absolutly NOT test for Paxil or any SSRI for a blood test as part of surgery.

They legally cant do it without your consent if you are 18 or older. If your under 18, it is possible that they could test for other chemicals but most of these would be of the illegal type.

In all my years I have never heard of a blood test for SSRI's so you have nothing to worry about.

PAXIL is an orally administered psychotropic drug.Paxil can be considered the multi generational offspring of many other medications that date back as far as the end of the 19th century. Some of its ancestors include cocaine, tricyclics, monoamine oxidase inhibitors and the popular SSRI fluoxetine (Prozac). Often referred to as a me too drug , Paxil’s manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline marketed it as being even more selective then other antidepressants.

there are a LOT of things in the blood, and they have to do specific tests for each one in order to know if it's there. plus by now it's probably all out of your system. so nothing to worry about. :)
