Oxycodone and nausea

This isn't about medication for social phobia, but I've been prescribed oxycodone for pain and the nausea is incredibly, incredibly bad. I've googled and everything says that eating with it helps, but I have no appetite, and that it gets better the longer you take it, but I need advice for NOW, heh. I've already thrown up, which isn't pleasant on an empty stomach, and I don't want it to happen again, but I don't want to deal with as much pain as I have to without the oxycodone. Is there any way to manage the nausea, or do I just have to soldier on through it?

Thank you!

Unfortunately what they usually use for treatment of opiate induced nausea (promethazine) is prescription only. The best thing OTC that might help is meclizine.

I am so sorry. Before I moved into a safe "bubble", I used to get brain swelling when I got into cigarette smoke, perfumes, diesel. I would vomit for days from the pain, and lose 5-8 lbs. At the hospital I was given a strong narcotic shot for the pain, and then a vistaril shot for the vomiting. Ask your doctor for a suppository, I always keep some on hand, tho, now that I'm in a safe environment, I rarely take anything anymore, and haven't for 6 years. But it's called Phenadoz, or promethazine hydrochloride- or what I received in the hospital- Vistaril.Talk to your doctor. Good luck to you

I never experienced nausea from opiates. I took massive doses before and the only one that EVER made me puke was 480 mg of oxycodone back in in December when I was feeling a bit suicidal. Don't worry tho, I'm feeling better now, I just wish I had some information for you. I say go to the doc and ask for that stuff the guys above me are talkin about....

Peace
