Hi guys, i know this is a little off topic, but i just thought i'd reccomend a new film which was just released at the cinema on friday, 'The Departed'.
The new film from legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese, the directer of such classics as Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, GoodFellas (my all-time favourite movie), and Casino.
For those who aren't aware of the plot, the film is set in Boston, and focuses on the FBI's efforts to crack down on the city's organised crime element, particularly on irish mob boss Frank Costello, played here superbly by a devilish Jack Nicholson.
The Feds put an undercover cop into Costello's crew, played here by Leonardo DiCaprio, in their effort to get results.
What they hadn't bargained for, was that Costello has got his own 'mole', played here impressively by Matt Damon, working for him deep within the high ranks of the police force, tipping him off on any major stings, thus helping Costello keep avaiding capture.
It soon becomes apparent to both sides, that there's a rat that needs to be gotten rid off, and violence and blood shed soon escalate...
It's a good film, with some great moments and more than a few twists in the story. It's no Scorsese masterpiece, and doesn't come close to matching the brilliance of, say, GoodFellas & Casino, but is an entertaining and worthy film none the less, and comes highly reccomended from yours truly.
I went watching this Friday afternoon, on my own, when the screening was near enough empty, as i prefer to do when it comes to seeing serious films, as i can't stand distractions during important movies.
