I strongly suggest that you seek treatment as soon as possible. I imagine counsellors encounter people with SA quite often, so nothing you do or say will be a surprise to them.
Don't just learn to cope with your anxiety/phobia. That is what I have done, and I feel like I could have been so much more.
I believe my SA is a result from being taunted and physically assaulted in primary school. I never really told anyone or dealt with those issues. I just went through life expecting people to hate me, and behaved in a way that caused them to (i.e. being cold and unfriendly).
This year I'm really making an effort to be friendly, and not be so much 'in my head'. Every day is excruciating!
