NEED HELP; DISINFECTING HOUSE

Ive had OCD for about 4 years now, and I really need some help with my house. Im only 15 so its gonna be hard to clean it before my parents come home, but I NEED to disinfect it before my cousins come over for Thanksgiving. I have to clean my compy, desk, the floor, every doorknob, the tile folooor downstairs, carpets, the fridge, the TV, and throw away anything that dirty. Then I have to wash my bed, my clothes, my dog (the hardest part), and my shoes. I have spray to clean desks, door knobs, and the compy and TV, but the floor is one of the hardest parts. Vacuuming only picks up dirt, not the germs. So I thought of spraying it with floor cleaner and then vacuuming. But my dog is with my dad right now, so when she gets home, all of that cleaning would go to waste, cause she would walk all over the floor w/ her germy paws. So I'd either have to do it again, or immediately clean her when my dad gets home. But my dad also not really nice, so whenever I disinfect something, he gets mad. He just wants to be a "normal" kid. Please help, I only have till 4:00, and its 1:23 right now!

Looks like you got a big day ahead of you. Although, being a germ freak can have it's drawbacks. Disinfecting doorknobs? Come on. You're never going to eliminate every germ. And the carpets? They'll just get walked on. You might as well give it up. Apart from being ridiculous, you're doing more harm than good. You want something to really worry about? Look into the science of using spray cleaners.

Conclusion - not worth doing. Wash your hands before you eat and when preparing food. Problem solved

Wow thnx for being an @$$hole. You apparently have no idea what living with this feels like. Fuck off because you're no help.

None of this was an attack to you, dude. Relax. I was just trying to help. Way to turn a good mood upside down. Also, I used to have OCD, I know exactly what it feels like. It sucks. But I got over it, and I think you can too - with the right mentality. Flipping out on people who try to offer some realistic advice isn't the best way to overcome it though, IMO.

Sorry, I'm just not having a good day at all. And I really can't get rid of my problems and fear of germs, cause i figure that its just a "necessary evil." I'd rather have my fears and OCD than germs all over the place constantly bothering eme everyday. And the thought that I'll never remove every single germ is what bothers me the most. They're everywhere in my house, and no matter how much i clean, they still come back. I feel like just killing myself and solving the problem completely.

No big. I apologize for coming off as an asshole if I did :)

Don't kill yourself, though. That would just make a mess. And make your family pretty damn sad, too. I've heard therapy can have some positive results.

It sucks though, I know. I had OCD probably a total of 3 or 4 times in different bouts over my life. Except I was probably more neurotic than you. At least you help keep the house clean, that's probably the best kind of ocd to have, right?

Good luck though. Sorry to hear about all of that
