My point is.. everyone is stuck in the Happiness Trap.

Everyone strives for perfection which is impossible. There is no such thing as "perfection" because once you attain something that you perceive is "perfect" there will always be something MORE perfect.

Besides... people are sometimes so messed up that the more they think about attaining what they desire, the more they mess up and are unable to achieve this.

I can't personally blame everyone, for they may just be victims, but guess what. Victims of THEMSELVES. Ie everyone's self has a part to play in it.

I like your threads, they're interesting. Negative, but interesting.

Agreed pretty much.

Besides... people are sometimes so messed up that the more they think about attaining what they desire, the more they mess up and are unable to achieve this.

I tried to be perfect in every way there is... remove all my moles, birthmarks, every body hair, every pimple, all asymetric things in my face, straighten my teeth with something I created on my own... same for my nose, I would wear this thing that I created on my own every night, I was crazy, I was so sick & tired of this perfection thing i had going on but I kept on coz I couldn't control it - I guess that's what you call OCD.

Anyway Iam over this perfectionism for the most part I guess and feel much happier and better just the way iam

Same for social situations I tried to be perfect but I just let myself be now just the way I
Iam and feel great

Perfectionism is like a sickness

F happiness, being response-able is what I'm striving for. SAD isn't stopping me from working, studying, or going out and having a good time. I don't need meds and side effects. I'm learning to tune out my thinking brain and to tune in to my observing brain. My values are taking down the road to helpfulness, health, and prosperity. I don't have to figure out my past, my disease, or my crazy thoughts.

I completely agree.

But I still have a lot of unlearning to do. (sigh)
