Hi there!
A thought I conjured up a few days ago: your fear is like a punching bag with a face painted on it. In some situations, this face sneers at you, saying: "You're too much of a coward to punch me!". What you've got to do, is every time your fear sneers at you, give it a good punch, until you won't be bothered by it any more - you just know you're able to punch it hard anytime you want.
By giving a punch I mean doing the thing you're afraid of, the thing you're avoiding in social situations.
Another thought: anxiety-provoking situations exist in order to train your confidence. It just feels good being confident plus you might get benefits from these situations (social opportunities), so don't miss/avoid the training.
And another thought: express your emotions. As a very sociable guy said to me "No one gives a damn what you're talking about. What's most important is to have fun yourself"
Have a nice day.
