I've noticed something that really bothers me and was wondering if anyone else with SA/SP has noticed it too.
I've had SP for about 1 1/2 years and I've noticed that since I seem to be incapable of relaxing around other people at work or anywhere that I do some pretty strange things when forced to interact directly with people. What really bothers me is that they will mimic or mirror my behavior. Sometimes I think they are doing it on purpose, but I don't think that's possible. Because it seems to be universal among all people.
Whatever I'm doing, they'll do the same. If I look away, they'll look away. If I hesitate before raising my eyes to someone, they'll do the same to me a minute later when entering the room I'm in. It's probably around 50 different things and the other person will mimic my behavior when I'm around. I find it very strange and disturbing because I don't want to feel uncomfortable and do the things that I'm doing, much less have "normal" people doing the same thing. I shouldn't be affecting anyone.
My best attempt at an explanation would be that people need to try to reach some level of common ground with another person in order to feel even a slight connection to them even in a working environment. With me that connection is not possible. But they try and they try making themselves look foolish in the process. It really is annoying to me, having my own ridiculous involuntary behavior mirrored to me by normal people.
Anyone else notice this?
