Medical Insurance UK - Unsure

Sorry if this is the wrong place to put this topic.

Basically, I would like any information anyone has in regards to UK Medical Insurance. I know absoultely nothing. I would not know where to start to get this.

The reason I am enquring is because I have been looking into private hospitals that could potentially help with my blushing.

How does the whole medical insurance work. Does it cost me a certain amount a month. If I have this insurance, do I not pay for private consutations or procedures because my medical insurance will cover it?

Any info or advice regarding the above would be very much appreciated.

If you work, the employer will automatically deduct insurance from your salary, you need national insurance card and health insurance card - don´t you have this already? With this you can get free treatment only by doctors who are not private, by those who are you have to bear the full cost. If you don´t work, I think in the UK is not compulsory to pay insurance as well (in my country is, but if you are unemployed the amount is slightly lower).
