I've noticed that a lot of people here play video games and watch TV when they're in their safe place. I did the same thing too at 7th and 8th grade. Like I would come home from school plop myself in front of the tube with a bunch of junk food (ie: Haagan Daz, candy, gum, the likes). It would be a veg-out thing to do and I liked doing it.

Does anyone think that SA is has more flavors than being anxious around people? I mean a lot of people seem to lock themselves away from society but they aren't engaging in anything but escape.

What you think? I'm still trying to figure this crap out and I DONT believe it's genetics. It's environment and some of us may not realize what was going on around them and try to blame the genetics on it because they just aren't aware.

You think my environment made me terrified of people by the time I was three years old? When I was a kid I was even afraid to talk much to my grandparents, since I didn't see them every day (but a motormouth at home with my parents and sister).

Like most psychological traits, it can be genetic or environment to varying degrees.

Prefering to sit in front of the TV instead of socialize is just being introverted, not being socially anxious. They may find too much time with too many people to be tiring, but that's different from finding it scary.
