i'd like to know how well the Facetime app works
does it work only over wifi or over 3G or both?
how good is the video?
is there a time lag or is it real time?
i'm considering using this a video-conferencing device in a business setting, but i also want it to be able to send video of merchandise/product to another person while we're conferencing about it

It should work over both wifi and 3G, but probably much better over wifi.
The video is decent (from what I've seen), but that depends a lot on your internet connection.
The video is as close to real time as is technologically possible. Again, it all depends on your internet speed, but there shouldn't be any noticeable delay (a few tenths of a second or less with a good connection).
I've only seen my parents use it, though. Don't take me too seriously.

from what I can find out, facetime is not intended to be used over 3G - only WiFi

though some folk can create a work around to make it so. apple says the video resolution is good. a search for 'facetime ipad lag' brings up lots of results, I guess it would depend on how well the connections are at any given time. I dont have any experience with these, so hopefully someone with one can fill you in more. also, there seems to be a subscription payable for the premium service with this
