Can one of the more experienced guys in ionto help with this? Possibly a water quality issue?

I've never experienced any water discolouration after the treatment.

I know Mac also uses/used salt which might also impact this?

This happened to me as well when I did iontophoresis treatments. The reason is because the metal part that is submerged in water starts to corrode, even more so if you put in something like salt or baking soda to increase the current.
