I'm Here to Help...

Hey Everyone,

Just joined the forum, and I'm finally excited to be on the giving end of things! For years, I was always the one seeking advice about my social anxiety and how to overcome it. In particular, I had a fear of talking with strangers and interacting at parties and making friends at other kinds of social events. But after a few years of trial and error with a number of different things and a lot of help, I can finally say that I have overcome my social anxiety.

So.... I'm here to help!

I'm planning on being an active participant in the discussions and giving everyone advice directly from personal experience and what worked for me. Also, feel free to shoot me a PM if you have any questions. I'll see you in the discussions!

I have a question. What exactly worked for you?

I kind of went through a long period of trial and error where I tried a number of different things. Each one of them may have helped a little bit individually, but I think the biggest thing that helped me was self-exploration, if you want to call it that. Just sitting down and analyzing how I created the sensation of fear in my mind and how I felt that sensation in my body. Once I did that, I was able to understand my response to fear and use cognitive behavioral exercises to help me neutralize those sensations.
