Hypnotherapy

Folks,

Just to see what you all think about my next approach.

I've tried numerous books, self help hypnosis CDs etc, now I'm going for a bit of Hypnotherapy on Thursday.

The guy claims to be able to make things better within 3 sessions, offering a mix of CBT/Hypnotherapy.

Anyone else tried this? Basically, I have SP, with depression, low self esteem, and low self confidence, each feeding off each other, awesome isn't it? :)

Same here. I've heard that hypnotherapy works well and quickly. I'm going to ask my therapist about this option.

I had my second appointment with my therapist today and I asked her whether hypnotherapy does any good for people with anxiety. She says that she does hypnosis but that it's not what some people claim. She says that it's great way to relax or to get someone to quit smoking, lose weight and whatnot but it won't treat Social Anxiety or depression. She also told me that some hynotherapists say that they are therapists when in fact they are not.

I went to a hypnotist once to rid myself of a very sick and bad habit. It didn't work.

Basically, like Serafina said, hypnosis for any kind of problem you may have only works if you really really really want to get rid of that problem.

From what I've been told, people can only be hypnotized if they really want it.

Ha, that´s total nonsense. Do you think I didn´t want to, when I spent so much money for the sessions and travelled so far because of them? I guess it can be because I have this autism (or asperger) problem.

Are you gonna try it? So far there is noone on this forum who tried yet!

Edit: sorry, one.

You have a point. I would still like to try it but my current therapist does not believe in hynotherap for Anxiety so I'll look elsewher for this option. It seems as though I get different answers from different people.

hi people - what is this quote thing?
is this how you get to respond to the original question , the thread instigator?
if it is then ,,,hello instigator!!
george in crawley, uk.....crap little town....

anyways , can you look at Hypnotherapy Hypnosis Training Courses, List of Hypnotherapists Register - Successful Hypnotherapy and pure hypnoanalysis training to see what can be done when therapists look at the causes of SP?
in my life i don't go near doctors or psychiatrists or psycho-drugs - i visit psychotherapists instead .
no drugs - or people telling you how much misery they will experience for the rest of their lives...!

i suggest to anybody with SP that they go see a hypnotherapist who does analytical hypnotherapy or hypnoanalysis.
it's the best form of therapy there is - SP people can really make good use of it - that includes me!

ok?

george

ps **** psychiatry!!

In Ontario, anyone can be a psychotherapist. There is nothing regulating them. Anyone can just set up shop and say "im a psychotherapist".
