How to explain SP.

Ive found a way to explain to people how an SP feels. We often struggle to explain our problem to other. So I came up with this:

Imagine having a fear of Snakes.
Imagine everyone you ever saw carried a Snake with them.
Some Snakes were large, some small and some venomous.
Whenever you met someone for the first time you would always fear what Snake that person had with them and weather or not it would attempt to bite.
If you were around the same person long enough you could tame the Snake.
And you find it easier to be around people with small, harmless snakes on them.
Wherever there are people there are Snakes. Wherever their are Snakes their is fear. ie everywhere.

I think people can understand that.

This reminds me of a dream I had as a child....lol don't laugh but...here goes...
The dream started by me walking down my street to my grandma's house, entering, and seeing nobody in the home except for a man who's back was to me. As soon as I got within a few feet he turned around, mouth wide open, to reveal his teeth and the notion that he was a vampire! I ran out of the house and up to the other end of the street where my local high school is. There seemed to be something going on inside so I entered into the gymnasium. I kept seeing the backs of people I knew, but every time they turned around they would give me that same gaping mouth look of a vampire, totally freaking me out. I eventually made my way up to the corner of the bleachers where nobody was sitting, but somebody was mopping. It turned out to be Steve Urkel (lol, out of all people...). I remember him telling something to me about the vampires, and I don't remember what it was, but he made me feel better and I awoke.

In retrospect, was this dream trying to tell me something? Because it seems like my life has gone in that exact direction, feeling like I need to avoid everybody... This Christmas was so horrible, I got no sleep last night, opened presents for a couple of hours and retired back to my bedroom while the rest of the family had a merry ol Christmas. I feel like you guys are my Steve Urkel from my dream, the only ones who I can talk to during this time of despair. Or maybe it's my psychiatrist who needs to get a call tomorrow, because I feel like I've got nothing to live for at this point....

It's hard to get a person to understand how it feels to have a phobia. I used to think that my parents(yes both of them!) phobia of birds was lame, but now i understand how phobias affect different people. Our phobia might sound trivial to non-sufferers but to us it's crippling.
