Hey everyone,
I'm new here and I thought I'd introduce myself.
My name is Vince and I'm from the UK. Over the past 4 years I've developed social anxiety. Right now I'm at a stage where I'm mostly comfortable being outside or in a shopping centre, but I fear having to talk to people.
I get really anxious if I have to pay at a shop, answer a phone, buy a train ticket or basically talk to someone I don't know. I pretty much avoid all of these situations right now.
But I've decided to work on this part of my life, so I'm going to try pushing my comfort zones a little - starting by posting here.
I've been a silent lurker on these message boards for awhile, and I've found it helpful because it has helped me realize that I'm not alone with this.
For a long time I thought there was something fundamentally wrong with me - but now I see many other people have felt like this as well. So I guess I'd like to thank you all for being so open and honest here.
It's a great feeling to realize I'm not alone.
By the way, I'd love to make some new friends here, so feel free to send me an email, chat on msn messenger (send your address and I'll add you), or simply leave a reply here.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I love you all.
