Palmar HH is so terrible. It really cripples me socially a lot of times. But sometimes I get lucky and somehow avoid sweating for a while.

I was at a wedding recently. I arrived and found a bunch of people introducing themselves to each other. I avoided most of that because I was still in that nervous stage where I felt like if I shook someone's hand then my hand would instantly start sweating, then I wouldn't want to shake anyone else's. So I just hung out for a while and tried to cool down in the building. After a while I felt ok. In church I was actually dry the whole time (had to fan myself a bit to stay cool). But then later I had to carry some stuff over to the party and out in the sun I immediately started sweating. So unfortunately I wasn't able to go out and dance at all. I even tried my usual routine of drinking to try to stop sweating, but it didn't work that day. So I had to deal with a few more cold/clammy hand shakes.

In anticipation of a date with a girl I thought I'd try Odaban on my hands. It works so well for underarms that I thought it'd be worth a try. Not so sure that is true now. I woke up the next morning and after a while started streaming sweat out. Tons of it. It was almost like I could feel the sweat coming out of each pore. I know Odaban blocks pores, so I think it definitely affected the way the sweat felt. Strangely the area between some of my fingers remained mostly dry. Even right now they feel really smooth.

The date actually went great though. I was sweating at first, but a couple beers cooled me down. I was dancing with this girl and holding her arms and getting all close with her. But then I got hot or whatever and was a bit sweaty. Didn't really screw things up though since we went outside soon and it was cool, so my hands dried right off and I held her hand walking down the block! It is such a strange pleasure to be able to do that!!! No one else but us understands this, lol. Hands feel really nice when they're not soaking wet!

Any other good / bad / funny recent stories?

Good for you! Glad you went on the date despite the sweating. It's a wonderful feeling when you get to touch and feel someone elses hand. I think we all have been in your shoes. I think we become more nervous about our swearing than the actual event we are going too. I remember if I new I had a special event to go to a couple of weeks in advance, my sweat would be way worse till the day of the event. I realized that it was not about the event itself, but about being anxious knowing that I'll be dripping at the event yet to come. We become anxious about being anxious because we know we'll sweat.

That is such a moving story about being out with the girl and touching her and holding her hand while walking. I know how awesome it is to be able to do that without sweat. Most people must really take it for granted, but we can appreciate deeply how great it is.

I recall a time in high school, hanging out with one of my guy friends. He wasn't a boyfriend per se (though we did go to prom together), more just a bud. We were going to see a movie. We arrived a bit late and were rushing to get into the theater from the parking lot. He grabbed my hand and said, "Let's run!" It so happened that my hands were dry at that moment (thank god!), and he did it so spontaneously, that I didn't have time to get anxious about it. We took off running through the parking lot, laughing, holding hands. It was fun! :)

I find that whenever my hands happen to be dry, I am always reaching to touch my husband or hold his hand. They usually don't stay dry for very long when I do this, but I guess I am just trying to take advantage of any time free from sweat that I get. Usually, when my hands sweat, I can't stand for them to be touched or held, because beyond the social anxiety aspect, it just doesn't feel good to me.

And look, that one time holding hands and running in the parking lot was 10 years ago! It really says something that such a small moment has stayed with me in my memory all this time.

About 5 years ago after first beginning ionto I got this new girlfriend. It was within the first few weeks having the experience of dry hands. I remember the first time holding her hand, mine were completely dry and hers were... wet. What's the odds? I met a women who had mild HH. I actually had the experience of feeling someone elses sweaty hands while mine were dry. I was just amazed and just held onto her hand as if it were my own. I did end up telling her about my HH experience and how I just started treatment. She never realized that HH was a problem even though she had a mild form of it on her hands and feet.

Are you doing any treatment for your hands? I can't say I've had tons of great experiences in my life holding girls' hands, but I sure hope I can find some sweat relief so I can continue to do such things.

I don't know if it's just mental or all the other strange HH factors, but I don't think the Odaban was good for my hands. The sweating I've had in the last few days is so heavy, but somehow it feels like each drop of sweat is very small and continues to stream out.

But I actually finally made an appt with a dermatologist, so I'm looking forward to getting some more info there. I'd prefer to try ionto to start but maybe I'll inquire about their Botox experience. With summer coming I really need to get rid of this.

Pretty funny. On the rare, rare occasions when my hands are dry and I feel someone else's who are sweaty it's always a strange feeling. But what's interesting is that if I'm really relaxed, my hand will dry instantly. Of course other people aren't usually DRIPPING sweat like us, maybe just a bit clammy. But it makes me feel just slightly better about the fact that even if you give someone a clammy/wet handshake, their hand should dry off in a second and then maybe they forget about it.

I always wonder if people forget about our clammy handshake. Sometimes it appears that people do remember are hesitant to extend there hand to us the next time they see us. It could be my overactive imagination, but I know I would remember someones sweaty handshake. --Such is life--

I don't think odaban is that good for hand hh. I used it before trying ionto-applying it two weeks straight at night, yes it stopped the sweating to some extent but my hands felt strange (like thay had pvc glue on them).

Anyone with a hand hh problem should really try giving ionto a go for a few months.

I only applied Odaban one night and my hands still feel strange. Between my left fingertips are extra smooth and mostly dry even when the rest of the hand is sweaty. However the problem is the rest feels super sweaty A LOT! As I said before, not sure if it's just due to other factors (or the sometimes apparent randomness of HH).

But I was out tonight, had a few beers, and hands dried off. They really need to study alcohol and see if they can produce something similar that will dry us up. Maybe I just need to try Robinul. Doctor appointment is coming in 10 days, so I'll see then...

@ Sweat Party - I have not tried any treatment. I have only relatively recently discovered that treatments exist! (!!) I ordered some topical treatment from Canada earlier this week, and if that does not help, then I will seek ionto treatments. Good luck at your doc appt!

I will have to pay more attention to see if I sweat less when I drink. From memory, I kinda wanna say it seems like I sweat more, or at least some. I usually drink in a social group, so maybe that is a factor as well.
