Hey there everyone. I was really excited when I stumbled upon this forum on google. ::
I guess I've had SA since 6th grade, when I went through a tough time at school. It's gotten worse through my teenage years. (I am now 16.)
I saw a councillor, he basically made the situation worse. Picture this: You have a social disorder, so you go and see a councillor, who laughs at you if you stammer because you're nervous, and stares at you like you're a tard when you answer him with a sentence shorter then twenty words, making your anxiety worse. Oh, also, one of his methods and examples was; "If you go out in public and feel like something for lunch- say a pie for instance- rate yourself on how anxious you feel on a percentage scale. For instance 'Hmm, I feel 55% anxious eating this pie."
Tell me, how on earth will that help?
My family has a long line of anxiety problems, Panic disorders, all the general things liek that... But lucky me; I got social anxiety... Which, in my opinion, would be the worst.
I can't walk properly in public without tensing up and freaking out, I can't look at people when I talk to them, otherwise I feel tense and anxious, I get nervous speaking in front of my class... Thing like that. ::
It's great there's a place for people with SA to come and talk to each other for support, etc.
Thanks for having me.
