Having Trouble Meeting SA Sufferers

Since I live in an isolated area and have SA, meeting people that I can easily talk to is very hard. The only friend I have is someone I talk to on msn who lives in another country whom I've never met in person.

So I've been trying to meet people online who live in my own country. Just a few messages and comments here and there hoping to get a response, But I'm not having any luck.

Evan harder is I'm trying to find people like me with SA, who I think I'd feel the most comfortable with. We just happen to be the hardest group of people to find.

Here is a post I left a while back on this site
http://www.socialphobiaworld.com/postt19112.html

Am I doing something wrong?
Am I trying to hard?
Maybe I'm scaring people away with my directness.

If I don't try I stay lonely.

What a bitch of a problem.

Can anyone help me out here?

No, you're doing the right thing by reaching out. Absolutely. Good job on doing that at least.

The reality is SA people are sorta difficult to find and talk to.
I live in a huge city of about 3 million. Theres got to be at least 30,000 people suffering from SA.
But how many of those will I ever meet....?
Probably zero.

Unless you're lucky enough to find a local support group, or a meetup group of some sort, you're gonna find it near impossible finding most of us.

You could try this website:
http://www.meetup.com/cities/au/

There might be groups you are interested in on there. I found a social anxiety group in my area.

It is really good that you are reaching out to try and meet people. Because that is definitely a hard thing to do.

Thanks for posting that socialanxietyfriends website. I think I might join that.

Ok, I'm an SA sufferer from Sydney desperately seeking a coffee with someone who can understand me atleast as a friend.

How are you doing this night?
