Have you gone days without leaving your house?

Since I've been unemployed for 6 months and have zero friends, I got in a bad habit of staying inside for days at a time. Not good! I notice when I go back out after staying in for a while I get really really nervous. It's like my brain is telling me "Wow, this is a new place. This isn't your comfort zone.. Watch out!" and I become really stiff, nervous, and I feel so distant from everyone else. It's a horrible feeling. This is why I need to get back to work and start interacting with people again. Have you guys ever gone through a period like this? Experience this feeling? It's really not healthy, but hopefully getting into a daily routine again will get rid of alot of that fear

I've got the exact same feeling too. I just finished high school and just stay home everyday. Last week, I went out after not going out for a while, I felt more nervous than before. It's really weird because when I was still in school I wasn't that much nervous.

Is this Agoraphobia? It seems that we need to keep going outside more in order for us to be more comfortable. But where would I go? I have nowhere to go :\

I've probably gone a few weeks without leaving the house. If I'm off from school (summer vacation) and don't have work, I have little reason to go anywhere. I'm not as bad now that I have a car. Before that, I hardly ever left the house, unless I was going to school.

Right now it has officially been a week since I left the house. Strange how I barely even notice it.

I stay in the house for various periods of time. I don't even really notice until I finally go out again. I just stay in with my tv and computer and I have the blinds closed to keep the sunlight out.

I know what you mean I have been out a job for over a year and stayed inside alone with the blinds closed. I'm starting to question my sanity when I can't even visit the gas station - just go in and buy a candy bar and leave without my heart pumping and feeling like im being judged everywhere I go. After 365 DAYS its starting to get a little annoying.

hey, i wanted to share this article with you about the "spotlight effect." you may find it interesting. click here to read it.
