You know the feeling someone talking to you and your so worried they will see your "scared" you cant concentrate on what they are saying. The the time comes for you to respond and your mind goes like blank, and you say something stupid or mumble or slur your words and feel like a retard after? I hate moments like that

It happened to me while i was aproaching this girl i really liked, i said hello and i had planned what i wanted to say, and i just mumbled out jibberish rubbish, and then i composed myself and the same jibberish came out, i was just overwhelmed by the moment and freaked myself out, so i then i said to her in a clear and loud voice that i have to go to classes now.

Once the conversation starts going I don't have too many problems, but starting it is always incredibly hard for me. What is funny is that it is actually easier if the other person is a rather extroverted one, because these type of people will naturally come up with things to say a keep things going. And I do manage to reply fairly quickly and appropriately, normally, but it's always as if I were dependent on the other person for choosing subjects and doing the first step.

Sometimes, before entering in a social situation, I do try to prepare a few sentences to say just in case, but it doesn't really work, it's difficult to act them properly when you are so tense, and even a good joke gets a bit spoiled if you say with a tone like you are reading a sentence to death :)

All of this naturally gets ten times worse when the other person happens to be a girl, in that case my mind remains blank like a white sheet of paper.

Sorry for any english mistakes, I am not a native speaker

its very annoying - it even happens when im not talking to what i think consider an attractive female . its like why can't i think of anything but gibberish to say.

Tell me about it. It is the most frustrating thing in my life, and it kills me inside. I have a lot of things to say, I am described as very knowledgable by people who know me well. But, to those people who don't know me, strangers and co-workers, I must look like I know nothing. If I can ever get something out, it is in fragments and I sound incoherent.

Yes, exactly the same. To make it worse, I tend to feel like I "have a crush" on practically any girl that I happen to spend more then ten minutes with. I feel observed and judged by them, much more than by another guy.

Yes, its happened to me many times. I usually say to them that my mind has completely gone blank, and they are perfectly okay about it.

Remember it takes 2 people to keep the conversation going.

I will always remember this time when I went to the library when I was 13 and the woman on the desk asked me my age as the DVD I wanted was for 12+.

My mind went blank (I was so nervous going up there by myself whilst my Mum was still round the library) and I stood there for ages, completely forgetting how old I was.

Then I saw the rating on the DVD and said 12, even though I was 13 lol, it was soooooooooooooo embarrasing! I couldnt get away fast enough :(
