Did anyone else's parents ever give them advice like this? My dad did, and I think he did suspect I had anxiety growing up but he never divulged me.

In some strange way I think his advice made it worse for me. Telling me to do something is different than encouraging. >_>

I wish I could live by that mentality. Just acting like you're the best of the best in any and every situation. It just doesn't work for my type of personality.

Although it might not fit your personality, it's a great way to get ahead.

I completely agree. This mentality is not like me at all, but the few times I've done it, even when it's ended in failure, I felt better than my smoldering self-hatred that always follows a blatant episode of SA.
