Glycopyrrolate - My Experience So Far

I went to a doctor recently to find out if he could help me get my insurance company to pay for an iontophoresis machine. Since that process is annoying and slow, I also asked about glycopyrrolate (the drug in Robinul & Avert). He seemed to focus on bad side effects of it, but I told him I wanted to try it anyway since I won't have an ionto machine for a while.

Anyway, I've been 99% DRY for 5 days!

I'm taking 1mg pills twice a day. Took the first in the evening when I was dripping sweat. It didn't do anything immediately. The next morning I took another one, went out, had to shake a few people's hands, and got a bit sweaty, but I could already tell a difference in how they felt -- the sweat wasn't completely pouring out.

The rest of the 2nd day I was dry. I was holding hands with a girl all day. I even played pool which is unheard of with dripping hands.

Over the past few days, a couple times my hands got sweaty for about 2-3 minutes. I wiped them off and tried to cool down, and then actually dried off. I have been in situations where I'd normally be dripping wet. It is surprising when you don't sweat since I'm so used to it.

Side effects: The most bothersome thing for me is slightly blurred vision. Very slightly. But it mainly affects me when reading, not when just sitting around or walking down the street. My mouth, nose, and eyes are also quite dry, but I drink a lot of water, and it really isn't that bad, especially compared to the normal sweaty lifestyle!

Future plan: I'm hoping I will get an ionto machine soon and that will work for me because I don't want to have to take these pills forever, but I will definitely keep them around for special occasions, because it seems to be quite effective.

For years I never wanted to try this and didn't believe it would do anything, but I was just blinding myself to the facts. It is worth a try if you haven't yet!

WOW - Cooool. I'm glad you have found something that works till you get the ionto machine. Any relief is better than none. Sounds like you have a good attitude... stay with it.

Cool cool cool! I am just no waiting for my Robinul to come from pharmacy.ca!

It's 2.0 mg's as well, so they should do something!

That sounds so cool and promising. Are you having any concentration problems by any chance? Does your breath start to smell? Those are the two most annoying side effects of ditropan, you feel like a zombie and can't think properly and your breath stinks because your mouth is so dry. I really hope glyco is different.

No concentration problems. I haven't thought about the bad breath problem. I think if you have a buildup of mucus/phlegm in your sinuses then it could lead to bad breath. Just stay hydrated and it shouldn't be too bad.

You might also consider eye drops for dry eyes. But I have dry eyes anyway so maybe it's more of a bother to me than other people.

Update: Saturday I was sweating a little bit, maybe because I missed my normal morning dosage. Later I was dry.

Sunday at church I felt so hot and thought I would burst out sweating at any moment, but I kept fanning myself to cool off, and somehow I stayed dry.

I was also using a touch-screen computer which was very hot and I felt like I would start sweating. But I kind of wiped my hands off and cooled off again, and I just completed another almost completely sweat-free day.

I feel so much better when not sweating!

Still awaiting more info from the doctor about the ionto machine and insurance coverage...
