Girlfriends

Hi,

Background
I'm 18... & at VIth Form College in England. I've never really been good at talking to people... I sometimes even feel very awkward with my closest friends. I've never had a girlfriend, nor have any girls ever shown any interest in me.

Problem
I'm not good at getting to know new people, especially girls. When I do fancy a girl I feel really awkward talking to her - and that's a big problem because I'm forever falling for girls.

I've tried asking girls out but I just can't open my mouth & say the words I need to. I've managed to ask a couple of girls I know IRL out on MSN... but I was rejected (of course). How do I make girls like me when I'm too shy to do the things other guys do (i.e. flirting, etc)?

I'm forever torturing myself wondering if I'd have any kind of a chance, or sitting here crying because I know I haven't. I can't cope with it >_<. I can get on really well with a girl but that's it.... and I mean I'm an intelligent, kind & caring person & there's guys who look worse than me wandering round with girlfriends. I just know that I'll never end up with someone.

Flirting is where basically you and the girl and talking to each other but you're not really being serious, instead you are kind of just playing with each other.

Talk to them alot until you know they like you as a person and then try asking them out. I really don't know what advice to give.

Well sometimes I wish women would NOT show any interest in me. It would make my life a lot easier. Something less to think about. I'm tired of the emotional rollercoasters. Women aren't everything. You just have to keep trying. You need experience before you will ever be somewhat comfortable, if ever. I'm sure there is a girl out there for you, it just might take awhile. Keep trying.

My only advice is to just talk to them, be friends. Then maybe she wil se who you really are. After being friends for a while she might get interrested. You never know.

I didn't get a girlfriend before I was 24. We started out as friends and it worked out perfectly :D We had common interrests, so we started from there. I never asked her out, it was kind of her who took the first step.

Just be patient, and most important BE YOURSELF!!!
