Freakin' Out!

kids are taught not to run around with scissors

so they won't poke someone's eye out

a five year old thinks this is oppressive

maybe we should let them do whatever they want

It's rather funny that I'm being told by a bunch of adults who no longer have to suffer school, that more focus on the well being of students strays towards some kind of 'soft' liberalism. Hahaha.

I'm asking for more concern about the welfare of students, not the abolishment of rules. We're not factory workers, we're human beings. I'd like to be treated like one by a bunch of ****wit adult superiors who think they know what's best for me. They'd rather enforce rules that sanction the idea I deserve no respect or equality because I am still legally a child than show concern for my emotional well being. This will therefore, and I can only speak for myself, gain my respect, mainly obedience, and need to do well academically at school.

We're taught obedience and a recognition of commands. Not to develop a passion for ideas and learning, or a determination to succeed.

Often,we adopt the way we were once treated and, in turn, may treat others the same way. It's the only style of social interaction we know. We learn that doing recognisably moral things aren't appreciated or even recognised, so morality isn't crucial for....well,****ing life.

its sad but educational institutions have become more business orientated. just another corporate entity.

always moulding us to behave and think in a certain way.

side tracking but...
one particular school assignment always stands out in my mind.
class was asked to write an 'essay' on 'what you think of indiginious health in rural australia'.
to me that seemed real open ended, i mean 'what do I think'? so i assumed i had to write what i thought and why. so i wrote what i thought. my reasoning behind it. references to facts which made me think that way etc etc.
failed that assignment. no chance in hell of passing. eventualy i only just passed this class by writing what i thought the teacher wanted rather than what i thought. i really hope this is an isolated incident, because i dont like to see civilisation be stagnated.
