Fear of going bald

Well, I have to say I find that hard to believe.
Second, even if it was attractive to be bald, I'd still take my hair back any day of the week.
I can't stand the way it looks, the way it feels. Sometimes I feel my head accidentally and inexplicably want to hurt someone.

And yeah, shaving it helps, but not much. You really have to bic it, and it's time consuming. So you have 2 choices. Chrome dome or shaved bald. That's it. No styles to choose from. No personality. You have 2 choices. And that's who you have to be.

It was regarded as a sign of maturity in the older days. Also, female chimpanzees tend to find male chimpanzees with a bald scalp more attractive than other chimpanzees. IF you think about it, what precisely from a Darwinian perspective would make bald men less attractive?

Doesn't a higher testosterone level correlate to an increase in baldness?

So the less hair you have on your head, the manlier you are.

or is that a myth?

lol coyote!! I'd give you rep but they banned it!!

Some bald guys are sexy!! So there!!

Some even got super-famous and/or rich!! And/or have many cute girlfriends, or a very gorgeous one!!

Some people say stress and such can cause balding too, so it's best to just RELAX!!

Hey, it was easy getting a compliment on hair - now your personality or intelligence or wisdom will shine through!!
What's *IN* your head (and your heart) is more important than what's *on* it!!

It depends. Some people lose hair from testosterone, others do not carry that genetics that causes hair loss. Arnold Schwarzenegger did for instance not lose any hair during his steroid cycles.

thanks but no thanks. My boss wears a toupee and he looks like a total laughingstock with it. And he's not a bad looking guy that's the funny thing

Baldness is caused by an enzyme called alpha 5 reductase, which changes normal testosterone to something called DHT...and that is the culprit of male pattern baldness. When I started losing my hair I read all about the whys and hows...unfortunately there isn't a cure...at least not a permanent one. I tried minoxidil, which is a lotion that you put on to your scalp, and hair DID grow back, but it wasn't as thick, and you had to keep buying it...it became to expensive and I knew that baldness was going to get me eventually so I stopped using it. There is also finasteride which is a pill you take...never tried it, but it is supposed to stop baldness in its tracks... I think they are the main two medications.... if you can afford it there are hair transplants and the like....but personally its just too much hassle to bother with now.

If anyones interested in shaving their head completely I use this...HeadBlade® | Ultimate Head Shaving Razor & Head Care Products

Ergonomically designed with baldies in mind...

ive never had a fear like this before but to tell you the truth i have always got military cuts so my hair is always short and ive decided if i ever start to go really bald im just gonna completley shave my head, and im pretty self-concious. theres alot of bald people out there who dont look to bad with shaved heads just look at that guy rick from Pawn Stars lol its better than trying to salvage whats left with your hair and into a comb over lol

Get a short hair cut. Number one or two razor. I like short cropped hair because i don't have to comb it very often.

cut my hair to a number one or two ?
Im assuming you mean just cut it short first to "Test the waters"
Yeah i sort of already did that , and it doesnt look horrible but i know eventually im gonna have to shave it. I definitly worry about that.
I guess because i have always had hair as a kid. i loved having my hair long and used to get alot of compliments on it. BUT not anymore lol . . .

Sure some people suit a shaven head- otherwise you just Keep it super short.

Super short is fashionable.

You'll still have to cut or shave your head once a week regardless.
ProBALDly more up keep than before.

Keeping it short is once less thing to worry about- Otherwises you'll be spending hours in front of the mirror trying to get the comb over just right:eek:

And as you get older you'll be frustrated by the fact that hair gets thicker on the rest of your body, seemingly migrating from the top of your head. Nature figuring out that you've no need to keep your head warm any longer, but that your nostrils are freezing. "Why do I need thicker nose-hair!!??"

It pains me to admit it, but yeah my hair is thinning too. I just keep it a no.1 these days. Am I worried about it? I was in the past, not now though coz i know i'm not good enough to get a girlfriend anyway.

Going bald is a pretty terrifying idea to me as well...

if I ever go bald, I'll have to just recoup my losses by directing all my efforts toward a ridiculously long, lavish beard... all wispy wizard style

I started loosing hair when I was 17 yo. It was pretty horrible. I started to cut my hair really short and now I don't mind being "partially" bald. lol You get over it after a while.

@hippiechild - LOL It's funny because I have that same idea. I'm growing my beard now since I've already begun go bald. It's not going to be that long, but yeah... beards are cool. They can compensate for your hairloss.
