Btw, I would like to find bands/artists that sing alot about mysterious supernatural things like mythology, vampires, ghosts, e.t.c. I really don't know of much if any, bands/artists of that nature, but I know they're out there.

maybe manowar?

Well that's a band I never heard of until now. But I definitely can see where they're coming from just by looking at some of their song names and album titles on wikipedia. I'm currently listening to Manowar's "The Sons Of Odin"(Immortal Version) and I'm liking it already :) . Eventhough I don't know much about mythology, but I like reading/watching/listening about it whether it be Greek myth, Egyptian myth, or any other myth. So hearing it by song is just as awesome! Which is why I sometimes listen to bands like Nile(I say 'sometimes' because they're lyrics are difficult for me to understand since they're, after all, a death metal band). It would be nice if I could find a good list of bands/artists who sing about such a subject....But thanx anyway, NothingElseMatters.

I am surprised the Smiths haven't been mentioned, especially on a social phobia forum...
And if anyone wants to chat about any music just send a PM. I am not really in contact with anyone who likes this music and would like to discuss.

I LOVE The Smiths! :) And Morrissey's solo work too, but The Smiths more. They have such great depressing music. Those songs, along with Depeche Mode, were the soundtrack to my teenage angst. Well, my adulthood angst too. I was just listening to Bona Drag on my way home from work today (I kept playing "Yes I Am Blind" because I was in a bad mood and feeling sorry for myself). In the depths of my emptiness I listened to "I Know It's Over" repeatedly.

I don't know anyone IRL who likes this music either so feel free to PM me.

I also like classic rock music, 80s music, some metal music, female singer/songwriters (Shakira, Tori Amos), etc. I mostly listen to music when I exercise but I should listen more often. It really helps me feel better.

I thought i already posted on this thread, but i guess not.
My most influential bands are:

Nine Inch Nails
Tool
The Mars Volta (most underrated band of the millenium !)
Rage Against the Machine/Audioslave
Strapping Young Lad (Canadian metal at it's best !)
Soulfly
Opeth
Fear Factory
Pantera
Megadeth
Neil Young
Rush
Yes
Led Zeppelin
Marilyn Manson

But even that list doesnt do my musical tastes justice, its just stuff that i listen to probably most out of anything.

Hey man, I was exactly the same!! went off them a bit after the new album came out but my PJ obsession lasted for years. I live in the UK and hardly anyone has heard of them here which is a shame.

I always thought Vitalogy/no code were the best, but all their albums are pretty amazing. No other band has ever matched PJ for me.

Music is a great way for people to connect, as well as being very indicative of the person themself. We can learn alot about eachother from what kinds of music we all listen to, and we are always all to eager to share our favorite music with the world.

It's not a great way for me to connect with people, no one knows what the hell I'm talking about when I tell them what music I'm into, or anything else I'm into for that matter. So I don't bother, it's pointless.

I know what you mean. if you go to last.fm you can probably find some new music similar to the artists you like..also I've found alternative radio stations a good way to find decent new music. I think pre-2000 music was much better on the whole though.
