Lately, I've been doing daily exercises like cardio mainly intense biking for like an hour a day. My mood has been really uplifting like I seriously feel childlike and youthful and my social anxiety has gone down noticibly. I'm dead serious. I get more naturally more talkative at work also. Today I only did intense biking for like 30 mins and I felt great the whole day. I was ordering food at a resturant with lots of people and I felt so calm and didn't even pay attention to what people thought. I think that exercising does help a lot for me anyways.

I've always said exercise is the best anti-depressant/anti-anxiety out there. It evens out my emotions, puts me in a better mood, and is a great confidence booster. Too bad taking a pill is so much easier. Still, I've trying to exercise more because of the mental/emotional benefits.

Yeah, exercise is the best thing for it.

Problem is you could tell everyone this everyday but most people won't want to know.

I can totally relate. When I was a freshman in college, I stopped going after the first semester. Mainly because I was not fond of the school. I applied elsewhere, but it was too late for the spring semester of '03.

So, I stood at home all semester (no job until the summertime) and I exercised quite a bit. And, I NEVER felt better about myself in my whole life. This was my first serious break from depression since maybe childhood. My exercise routine lasted until 2005. So, 2003-2005 was seriously the time of my life. I was fit, I was happy, I was confident, comfortable, etc. I miss it. I have stopped exercising so much in 2006 some time. Ever since then, I have been depressed again.

I can't sleep and have been feeling very depressed lately, despite the fact that I exercise. If I don't sleep nothing helps.

I agree, I work out everyday and I feel better than how I used to feel, depression wise that is.

I used to jog everyday but I've had stomach problems ever since I was little and jogging made the pain worse. I unfortunately had to quit. I did get into yoga and lifting weights. I do agree that exercise helps a lot. I just wish I could jog again, I miss it. At least I found other ways to stay in shape. Keep exercising. Not only does it help you mentally and of course physically too.
