Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

Why is this such a crucial component of contract IT work?

It's meaningless to me. Office banter. Does everyone expect regular group hugs, smiles, giggles and mummy-daddy reliance on everyone else? Can anyone just support themselves? I'm not there to make friends! I'm there to get the job done, impeccably perfectly. The length I go to, to maintain the usual, fragile requirement to supply coffee and tea rounds all day long is far too much to ask. I get nervous, unable to remember individual preferences about sugar and milk, and end up with spills, etc. How are you? LOL! It's so sunny today!

I should have been in the military. Should have known that all those years ago

I struggle with "Good Morning!" :) every morning, and "Gooood night" ;) as I leave. I'd be a lot happier with "**** OFF!" for both of these, but I don't think they'd be comfortable with that.

As for the subject, how would you interpret that in a sentence, or a paragraph? I have a clear way to describe it, but I'd expect to be removed from the forum if I expressed it, the way it is in my mind.

LOL that would be awesome!

I suppose contractors need good communication skills so they can quickly understand what is wanted of them, ask any questions and express ideas and limitations. If you don't talk much, how can you discuss the project?

Although I agree, making tea and coffee and small talk is annoying and when I'm at work I want to be left alone to work. But when people don't talk to me, I feel that everyone hates me! LOL, the life of a socially inadequate girl!
