Does anyone ever suffer from hallucinations?

This is a subject which really embarrases me, but I just wondered if anyone suffers the same as me.

I have alot of hallucinations, mostly at night time. I dont know if these stem from all my worries (eg a build up of all my worries) or something else.

Sometimes Ive seen things in my room (including people & animals & the most strangest things imaginable) and sometimes I hear things that arent there, sometimes I hear people shouting 'hello' as though they are right next to me.

I am always having zillions of coincidences!

Im too scared to see a doctor or to tell anyone about this, but just wondered if anyone else is having the same problems?

thanks 8O

Hiya beautiful

Ive never experienced hallucinations. And ive never heard of it being a anxiety related thing. But im no doctor so that doesnt mean it couldnt be anxiety related. If your too scared to go see someone.. perhaps there is some sort of organisation you could ring and talk to about it.

Anyway i hope you find out the cause and also hope these hallucinations arnt scary or horrible or anything for you :(

Take care
Dan

Im too shy to even tell my mum so it'd be terrifying to see a doctor!

I also cant ring anywhere as I cant use the phone!

Sometimes these hallucinations are lovely, people would think Im on some sort of medication LOL, but Im not (I cant swallow pills :( )
and some hallucinations are very scary!

The scariest ones are when I see snakes & crocs & spiders, I once also saw a black shadow swinging a black belt around :(

For 3 nights in a row, I had the same hallucinations of my boyfriends hamster running across my pillow. When the hallucinations stopped, my boyfriends hamster had gone to heaven :(

Maybe Im blessed with powers from the spirit world hehe (thats what I like to think) btu sometimes they r so scary, I jsut want them to stop, especially when ppl tell me its all in my mind :(

With being bipolar my mum suffers from hallucinations some times.Like yourself she suffers good and bad ones.Certain things like watching horror/creepy/gory sort of films can set them off for her.

As yours are probaly from anxiety.. it might not work.. but maybe there are triggers which set yours off like they do for my mum.And untill you can muster the confidence to get help you could try and find out what sets them off for you? Or at least sets the bad ones off.

Anyways sorry i cant help you much, its not somthing i know anything about. And i know its hard.. but i think seeing a doctor would help a lot.But i appreciate that its somthing you maybe cant manage at this point.

Thanks Danfalc :)

Sometimes mine happen after watching something on TV. I only have to see a snake for about 5 secs & it gets logged in my mind ready for an hallucination lol

I have minor one. They are more like i for a split second see a black stain in the almost corner of my eye. Audio ones also happen, more than once i think people are going to assault me when it´s actually my own footsteps.
Hmm, mine are nothing compared to the ones you guys have.
Hey, you think people who halucinate get more halucinations when they are on the effects of drugs?

If I ever went in your house, Id be having nightmares & hallucinations for the rest of my life LOL

My bf is often annoyed at me most nights when Im at his, for waking him up in the middle of the night, screaming & shouting that theres a snake in the bed or a tarantula climbing up the walls or some person sitting in the bedroom! He says Im dreaming!

But how I can I be dreaming when Im wide awake and fully aware of where I am

I thank God that I don't have this problem. You should see a doctor about this. Force yourself to go if you must. This is something very serious and may be an illness other than SA.

Im scared I would end up in a mental institute lol, then that really would give my parents something to feel ashamed about! I feel ashamed enough already :(

Auditory and visual hallucinations are not typicaly associated with anxiety disorders. You really should go see a doctor. You're not going to end up in a mental institution. Talking to a professional will be your best bet. It will put things in perspective and help you get rid of the hallucinations. First you should tell your parents. I doubt they will be ashamed of you, I think they're more concerned about your health. You will feel a whole lot better about it once you take some initiative and try to make yourself better. I hope everything works out.

Hey Again Beautiful :)

You see people aswell? :( I know seeing snakes and spiders would be scary.. but people? that would really freak me out too much.I managed to go see a doctor and there is no way that i would be brave enough to put up with what you have to go through with having these hallucinations.

Sorry if it seems im pestering you but its just sad to think your suffering with this when you could get help,Plus your braver than you give yourself credit for,and maybe with a little support off your bf when you feel ready i reckon you could handle seeing a doctor :)

cr8 is right aswell. They wouldnt put you in a mental institute. They only do that if your a danger to yourself or others or if you cant cope and feel you need to go in.

Best wishes
Dan

Thanks Dan :)

My bf thinks it could be the darkness affecting my eyes by making me see things differently

Like when I saw this old man sitting down in the room, when I got up the next day, there was a guitar there. But I really cant see how my eyes could see an old man dressed in a suit with all his facial looks & his body looking excacly like a real human being from a guitar lol!!!

Are you awake during these hallucinations?? I think you may have a condition called sleep paralysis. Heres some info on it.

heres the full link> http://www.arts.uwaterloo.ca/~acheyne/S_P2.html

Sleep paralysis is a condition in which someone, most often lying in a supine position, about to drop off to sleep, or just upon waking from sleep realizes that s/he is unable to move, or speak, or cry out. This may last a few seconds or several moments, occasionally longer. People frequently report feeling a "presence" that is often described as malevolent, threatening, or evil. An intense sense of dread and terror is very common. The presence is likely to be vaguely felt or sensed just out of sight but thought to be watching or monitoring, often with intense interest, sometimes standing by, or sitting on, the bed. On some occasions the presence may attack, strangling and exerting crushing pressure on the chest. People also report auditory, visual, proprioceptive, and tactile hallucinations, as well as floating sensations and out-of-body experiences

This post has been really interesting and has helped me, i wud have never had the confidence to have started it. i think have the same thing, im not sure what its caused by, im 19 and in the last couple of years i have been into the rave scene where i took drugs frequently, but since my problems started i have not been involved in that stuff n e more.
I have anxiety/paranoia/depression probs, im taking proponolol and citalopram. It happens most of all at night time/darkness, i see people sitting on my sofa bed in my room and ghostly n horror type faces. I hear things alot to, (i must really sound like a weirdo) especially people calling me, and foot steps.
Also its funny u sed that about the guitar, i sometimes see things which resemble things which i see, for example, if my clothes were put in way tht cud look like an image of some sort, i wud see tht image, then look again and the image is no longer there.

wud be interested if many other people have same thing...
