do you only give compliments to people you have an interest in?

I really try to give compliments to everyone because I appreciate what a nice characteristic that is in people, being able to be happy for others etc. , though its a forced effort if I'm very honest. Not in a nasty way, i just feel awkward coming out with them! Though most of the time i barely say anything of course

I usually give compliments to people who I think deserve it, regardless of interest. Though if i`m interested in someone (or if I like them as a person), they are more likely to receive positive attention. More than someone who I have no interest in. And if its someone I don't like at all, ill most likely ignore them, or say something that`s generally forced. Like a cliche or something like that.
