Do you hate going to the hairdresser?

I've always had a problem with this although it's getting better, for me the hardest part is going in. Recently i had to have my hair cut (this was 2 months after i decided to go) and ended up walking past the shop 5 times, feeling panicky. Finally i shouted at myself for being ridiculous and walked inside while trying not to think about what i was doing. And it worked! It wasn't so bad once i was actually in there.

Ahhhh this used to be a big one for me, but now i've found a lovely hairdresser I go to every 4 - 5 weeks, she's nice so it's not so bad, but I still get panicy. It's because the attention is all on YOU arghhh and every one needs their hair cut.

I dislike it because it's always so humid in the place I go, and like Meow said, the attention is on you.

I also don't like it. The barber is a football (soccer) expert and that is what he talks about all the time. I barely know the rules. Even without SA it would be embarassing. :) With it, I sometimes passed in front of the shop but then decided not to enter.

Well, typical SA things. I have learned to just accept that they happen sometimes, and not to feel excessively stupid about it. Like if you have a broken leg, you should try your best to walk, but then should not feel bad if you lean a little at times.

If you just need a trim, cutting it yourself is easier.

Especially if you live in the UK. What is the difference anyway.

A lot of people seem to be saying how they hate going to the hairdressers on this website. =P
And, i agree.
I'm having my hair cut for the first time in over a year next Friday, and i've been worrying about it. My mum made the appointment, (since i just freeze up if i'm talking to strangers on the phone) and typically, she's put me in for a WASH and trim! I was so mad at her! Now i've got to lay my head back in a bowl with someone else staring up my nose and washing my hair! I hate people even touching my hair, it goes down to below my bum, and it's just a hassle to do all the which is the only reason i want it cut in the first place. I just want to be out of there as soon as possible.
Gah.
And, i know i'll go, and when she asks me how i want it, i'll just be like "..uh.." or worse, silent. Eventually i'll probably ask her to just do what would look best, thereby her making me spend more money.
Gawd.
Life is so fricken complicated.

me too

I hate it too, i dont know whether to talk or what.I just close my eyes and sit in silence most of the time. But i talk sometimes, thing i hate about it is i worry the hairdresser will see my hands shake when she gives me my glasses back or see me with a really nervous and scared look on my face when i get my glasses from her.

I tend to postpone it. however the longer I do the worse my hair gets and the more uncomfortable I feel about going.

I am the same as you jauggy. Ive needed mine cut for about 3 weeks now! I hate leaving the hosue without product in my hair cos it looks so stupid and frizzy. But they wont be able to cut it with gel in so i have to wear a hat, only I dont have a decent hat either. My only other option is to go early when nobody will see me. But i workmonday to friday, and saturdays the places are always packed! I cant win!

lol..seriously tho if ppl travelled to c me i would do everythin..i could do the hair and beauty..even stay at mine for a night and then ya all sorted. then there is no nerves..or a lot less cos i can relate and i can talk for england aswell..so no awkward silences. suppose once ya build ya trust up with someone its a lot easier! i could do like private apointments so no other ppl in the shop or just do it in my house so thats even easier. could even have a lie down after if it stressed ya out! lol! ooooo it would be good!

I think that's an awesome plan! A lot of non sa-ers are also anxious about going to a salon lol. OOooh I'd love that, get all beautified lol.
