Death, Dying and grieving

The past week's discussion topic at school was about death, dying and grieving.

I wrote my response to the topic and didn't think twice about it.
To my surprise, my professor emailed me, privately, gave me some good advice and told me that it was good to see that the lesson opened up my eyes to the fact that I have not actually grieved for the passing of my mom in 2004.

He said some things that really hit home and made a lot of sense to me. Thinking about my brother and my sister, I don't think they properly went through all the stages of grieving either. But on the bright side, I know where I stand and I know where to go from here.

The professor told me that perhaps my SA may be due (or partly due) to withholding my feelings and not grieving and just 'pushing through' - He spoke of opening Pandora's Box and in that, you release your emotions (which is good to do) but in my case, I have not.

Hmm....Funny how one discussion topic in school of all things, can be so emotional and educational at the same time.
