Cult

Anyone here ever joined a cult?
I was walking down the road today and these scientologists gave me a free cinema ticket for their film, so I watched it. It was, well, gay, to be honest.
I watched it because they were the only people to even speak to me all day, and they were being nice.
On the other hand, I pay them money and I get to have a conversation about me with a real person. Hmmm. I'm considering it.

So, are cults good or bad?

I suppose not. I decided not to join scientology, but only because they are a cult and refer to themselves as a "church". I'd like to do some kind of talk therapy though.
I could never do that with any kind of professional because I just couldn't deal with them having any kind of position of authority over me.

Group therapy may be a good idea for you then? Then everybody is on a level playing field with regards to authority.

But please don't go and join a cult whatever you do 8O

I mean I would like to do something that is not official. I would otherwise be afraid of it ever being used or held against me. I'm not a very trusting person.

I almost joined a cult many years ago. I knew I couldn't do it when the leader told me I'd have to breakup with the girl I had just started seeing because she wasn't a member. I told her about it, she freaked...and dumped me.

Gee thanks guys. Glad I met ya.

Cult

A religion or sect considered to be false, unorthodox, or extremist, with members often living outside of conventional society under the direction of a charismatic leader

It's self explanatory.

in my opinion, cults are bad, they seem ok at first, but they drag you in slowly and brainwash you without you even knowing.
If i were you i'd stay away from any cults, why not try something like therapy or group therapy instead?

A good therapist does not hold power over you. It is a co-operative process to get you where you want to be in life. Therapy is a tool, directing you to realise your own potential.
