Lol. I think almost all convo's with hair dressers are just pointless chit chats that have no meaning as an atempt to make you feel more comfortable and welcome + most hairdressers can just chat meaningless bullshit all day long anyway.

I think with SA alot of these little things in life we find difficult, a percentage of them isn't only hard for people with SA but most people feel uncomfortable in cirtain situations regardless of suffering from SA, SP or shyness.

I myself feel uncomfortable going to the hairdressers because It is filled with people that I defo dont have much in common with, and I get loads of questions fired at me like what I'm up to that evening or if I'm going on holiday this year.

Who gives a fuck?

Just reply each question with a question is what I do so I'm not left on the spot with nothing to say.

I can't even go to the hairdresser, and even if I could the answer would still be no... I can't have a normal conversation with anyone outside of my immediate family or people i know well.

I can go to hairdressers and have a conversation but I will still THINK that it's an awkward one. Of course, the hairdresser doesn't really care. And it doesn't really matter. What's a "normal convo", btw?

I'm going for a haircut this week and i'm already anxious about the conversation that i will have to engage in lol.

It's usually not bad, but i don't like it nonetheless, i tend to talk about non-personal things like news items, rather than my own life -or lack thereof.

You know, it really doesn't matter that much. It feels so bad to see people worry about things that are not worth it. (Stop it! :)) You are not supposed to talk about personal stuff with a hair dresser. Actually, you don't really have to talk to him/her at all.

I don't even go to get my hair cut anymore. I just cut it myself in the bath. Having long hair means I just bunch it in the front, cut. Bunch it in the back, cut. And there ya go.

Yeah you're right, it's not important, it's just the sustained burst of human interaction though, it's not comfortable when you are used to isolation and arn't used to making conversation, a few years ago i used to have a laugh with the hairdresser when i went for haircuts.

Yes, I see. Of course. Drop by and let us know how it went.

No, I just keep my nose in magazine. Luckily, my hairdresser isn't one of those types who chats incessantly. I also hate it when I have to tell him how I want my hair done. I always have the feeling that exactly then everyone else in the salon stops talking and are listening to what I am saying. Then my cheeks get really red

Personally when I go to the barber I like to get the whole thing over with quickly and fortunately the place I go to the barbers are eager to get you finished so that they can get to the next customer. But I like to think that if they started up a conversation I could keep my part up till it was over.
