beta blockers pro or con

just been to my docs and she has referred me to a therepist and she gave me beta blockers and told me to take one before a social situation, i am not sure if they will work or not
what do you think ????

They should help with the anxiety in the short-term, but cognitive therapy should always be the mainstay treatment of many psychological problems.

yeah i am going to do the c.b.t again and a therepist but she gave me them to see if they would help and just wanted to know anyone else had taken them

I was also prescribed them recently though have not taken them yet. According to the doctor it is to be taken only when anxious or when you know beforehand you are going to face a situation you will find anxious. Anyone who has taken them I am also interested to hear their experiences.

that is exackly what mine said i am stil scared to take one though lol i will just have to bite the bullet and go for it :) glad there is someone else out there the same

Maybe you could have a trial run with it? Take it once before the anxious situation so you can see how your react to it before using it for the real deal. Basically I am keeping my prescription and plan to use only if really nessasary because its hard to get one here. They will only give you a month's dose nothing more and you need to go back the next month for a review (which is chargable) before they decide if they give you more. So I have learned to keep my meds just in case there is an emergency. On average it takes a month to get to a specialist.
