I had my first meeting with a psychological assessor, this was my first meeting that I had with a doctor in October about depression, anxiety etc.
It was really helpful; we talked about all of my concerns, problems, relationships etc and it was great to get it off my chest and be honest.
She is the first port of call and she said I'd be passed onto the CBT team to undergo more training if I hadn't completed or attempted theee behaviour tasks.
I explained my anxiety in relation to having a conversation with people, how I feared being boring and running out of things to say. She advised me of the STOP (Stop, Take A Break, Observe, Pullback/Perspective) theory in situations where I feel anxious. She's given me a sheet to fill in which describes how I feel, what could I have done better, safety techniques etc.
But one thing she asked me to do in conversations was to think of things I was interested in and push that to other people, using a prompt of Did you know....etc.
Because the session went well, I am going to try and be more clear minded in conversations and try to be calmer, see if it helps but hopefully I'll be headed down the CBT road.
Anyone in the UK who has had appointments with doctors been given this sor of task and the thoughts of the rest about conversational points?
