Basic human needs

This is something that i probably know very little about, since i'm typically an acutely unhappy individual (& regularly even worse - eg depression). So, obviously not my "strongest suit". Recently i have been delving into what "basic needs" a human must have, in order for it to be at least possible that they can be "happy" (by which i mean having at least an "adequate" level of "reliable emotional well-being")

Again, this is about what things a human needs not simply to "survive", but to be "happy"

This is what i've got so far:
• Physical warmth (& shelter)
• Sensory stimulation (adequate; daily)
• Cerebral stimulation (adequate; daily)

Sounds interesting. I wouldn't mind hearing more details on the subject or even delving into the subject myself.

Material wealth can provide an environment conducive for happiness. But happiness itself can only come from contentment- complete acceptance of everything that you have and letting go of the obsessive desire for all that you haven't got. And of course, a simple decision to be happy.

I'm still having a hell of a time to explain to the people around me that I can make my own decisions about food. If that is unattainable for me how the hell am I going to reach the rest?

We talked about it the other day at uni (talking about human resources) and how everyone in the class was supposed to be in the highest levels of the pyramind and they all approved, but I said nothing ::(: I have food, so I can't complain.
