I was rather good at most sports i tried my hand at, esp racket/club/stick ones. My parents got me into a team sport early on, and although i got good at it (played for rep's), i still played it almost like i was the only one in the team (ie rarely passed ball, dindn't communicate with the other players - almost like i was playing a solo sport!). And of course i had trouble then with the "socialising" part, as i still do today. The reason why i gave up my team sport was my general timidity - partly fear of getting injured, and partly due to feeling more & more uncomfortable/self-conscious in front of spectators (am quite a private person, so it mucked with my privacy & true solitary nature). I'm not a "team person", but i did somewhat "enjoy" all those years of playing sports nevertheless.
So, I think sporting ability is independent of SA.
And concerning team sports, i think how much you like/enjoy it probably is related a bit with whether you have SA (can both like the sport, but dislike the team aspect).
Also, i have proven (unfortunately) that even years and years of playing in a team sport does not automatically improve one's confidence/SA/etc (i think it depends on the internal thoughts/dialog one has, in reaction to the things that happen in that context)
