Are anti-social and social phobia the same?

Anti-social behavior and social phobia have NOTHING to do with each other other than they are both mental illnesses.

I would just like to point out that I sometimes feel like a social phobe with anti-social tendencies, because I can get pretty irritable and hate everyone around me for at least a while. I also feel the need to not conform to society and rebel in some way or another.

I guess you could say I get these tendencies when I'm at my worst. =/

Anti-social and social phobia are NOT the same thing. Anti-social behavior refers to behaviors that are against the norm and may harm others. Sadists, masochists, etc. all fall under the anti-social category.

Someone who is anti-social means they are a psychopath or a sociopath, it has nothing to do with social phobia whatsoever.

i want to ask my family for help but they'll laugh and tell me it's just a phase i'm going through. a phase? please i've been this way my entire life.!

Thats a cognitive distortion, you are fortune telling and mind reading your parents. In reality you dont know how they will react until you tell them.

it is not cause For real i was one of the most social Kids to all my life till 18 . After 18 i was in house all the time with depression and i m 23 now and i still fight with SA. I Want to be Social and stuff but the Anxious outside cant let me do it. I Cant laugh natural and i cant be in a happy mood often. if i Can IGNORE ppl i will be "cured"

Can you have both? There's times where I wanna make friends and do all kinds of social stuff but then there's times where I just want to be alone away from everyone. When I feel like being alone I feel great, relaxed, and I enjoy the moment with no problems around. All the alone time then gets me depressed cause I have no one. No friends, family, or a girlfriend.

I always have this mix feelings.
